What a Day!

Today, I woke up and decided to do a little Christmas shopping.  I started out at The Children's Place.  I love that I can get matching outfits for all three kids there.  Not only were they having a HUGE sale, but I also had coupons.  This never happens to me.  I didn't even know they were having a sale until I got in there.  My plan was to run in, get the outfits and run out.  This is ALWAYS my plan when I have Kinley with me.  She's not the best little Shopper.  She is a Houdini Baby and no matter how tight I have her strapped to a stroller or cart, she always manages to escape.  I go in and carefully maneuver around all of the racks because she likes to yank the sales tags off of the clothes as we pass by.  I am getting pretty good at keeping that from happening. I grab the outfits and I am standing at the counter paying, feeling pretty happy that I have made it through this store without any real drama.  All of the sudden, I hear a LOUD BOOM!  Me, the lady checking out next to me and the ladies checking us out quickly discover that Kinley has a full rack of clothes and the rack itself in her stroller.  Mind you, she's still sitting in the stroller with her straps on backed up against the counter.  I still don't know how she managed to do this, but she did. As a matter of fact, we couldn't even see her because she was buried up to her eye balls in fleece robes.  As we pull the clothes off of her, she just looks at us like nothing has happened.  The lady next to me even says, "I don't think that phased her one bit."  I tell her, "Probably not...she's use to disasters unfolding because of her."  They were all worried about her being hurt, but she was fine.  Luckily, the frame of the stroller caught the actual rack so it had not hit her.  As we're all picking up clothes, I am apologizing over and over and they are saying, "Don't worry, it's fine."  I turn around to finish my purchase and I see my Cashier's head lowering beneath the counter.  Not like she's bending down, but like she's falling.  I push my body over the counter to find her laying flat on her back in pain.  The lady next to me says, CALL 911, I think she's having a heart attack.  The lady was probably in her early 50's.  I'm saying to her, "ARE YOU O.K.!!!" and by this time another lady that works there is behind the counter kneeling on the floor beside her.   She finally says, "I'm o.k. just help me up."  She stands up and starts to continue ringing up my purchases.  I say,  "Hold on, what is wrong with you?  Are you o.k."  What made you fall????  She then proceeds to tell me that when the rack fell on Kinley, she was so worried that she tensed up and her back began to spasm which made her hit the floor.  WOW!! Here I go again with the apologies!!!  I felt awful!!!!  Anyway, I've decided I'm going to have a shirt made that I will wear every time I go out, that says, WARNING!!!!!  Crazy Baby in tow!!!  I apologize in advance for any Havoc that comes with her.  I walk out of the store thankful that this is over with and following the trail of her shoes, her bow and miscellaneous items that have been pulled from my purse and thrown on the stores floor.  I seriously need a drink, but for now, I will settle for the Rock star that I picked up on my way home.  Lord knows, I need the energy!

  1. Too funny! Last year, I was doing some Christmas shopping with my accident prone middle child. The department store had overloaded some racks with big bath robes. She tripped, fell into one of the racks and then two more racks fell as well - just like dominoes! I thought the little checkout lady was going to have a heart attack too!!!

  2. Hahaha... That's so funny! I can see my twins doing that. Now that we've started just putting them in the stroller without the carseats, they grab at anything within reach. I was telling my husband the other day that I am just waiting for some of them to pull over a rack of clothes :)
