The Night Before Thanksgiving!

Like I said in my previous blog, my Parents are in town for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  My Mom's Birthday also falls on Thanksgiving Day this year.  Being that things are pretty busy from the time we get up until the time we go to bed on Thanksgiving, I decided we would celebrate her Birthday the night before.  So, here was the plan.....I was going to make a cake.....and I did.....but, it was getting late and I didn't wait for the cake to cool completely, so when I started to apply the frosting, the cake started falling apart (Which I knew would happen, but I attempted it anyway)   I tried to cover the mistake with more frosting, but that turned out to not be such a great idea....Then I thought, maybe if I added sprinkles, it will take away from the mess that I've already made....Nope, it just added to it!   So, when my Mom came in the kitchen and saw this cake, I couldn't tell her that I had made this mess......so I kinda told her that my seven year old daughter had made her a cake.  (Sorry Mom, that's the truth.......Sorry I had to confess....I couldn't lie to my readers :)  Of course since she thought that Bailey made the cake, she said it looked and tasted really good.   She probably wouldn't have been so impressed had she known that I was the one who really made it.  The idea of this cake was really awesome when I pictured it in my head!!!!!
So, Happy Birthday to You Mom!!!!!  Your cake was made with Love.....I'm sorry it looked like it was made by a 7 year old!!!!!

Happy 65th!

Mom, I promise next year your cake will be prettier!!!  Either that, or I really will let Bailey make it!!!

MawMaw & PawPaw Come To Town, Day 1

Today my parents came into town for the Thanksgiving Holidays which means I started cleaning when I woke up and didn't stop until they walked in the door.  My Children are programmed to destroy so I don't even bother trying to clean for Company until the very last minute.  It's pointless and I just end up getting really angry.  The kids were at School today so I only had to contend with Kinley.  When it came time to clean the bathrooms, I had to put her down for a nap.  Her favorite snack is toothpaste and it doesn't bother her one bit to stick a hand or two in the toilet.  Things were pretty calm until the kids got off of the Bus and it's been non stop since then.

Kinley isn't around my Parents that much so it always takes her a little while to warm up.  She wasn't so sure about the whole kissing thing.

My Dad just swoops her up and plays and talks to her until he's won her over.  Works every time!!!!

My Mom always comes bearing gifts so this did peak Kinley's interest.

She got a new ornament so PawPaw was helping her put it on the tree.  He didn't know that she just likes to throw it into the tree and see where it lands.

My Dad and Colton decided to head outside for a little BB gun action!

Kinley wanted to push her baby doll around, but apparently she can't remember where she left her, but by the look on her face she's trying to figure out why her Baby is not in her stroller.

Colton & PawPaw

Kinley & PawPaw playing Chase.

We're in the house for the night......I'm blogging.....Greg is watching the X factor.....MawMaw is trying to bribe Kinley with a back rub and PawPaw is trying to watch the X factor while fighting off two 7 year olds.

My eyes are tired.....I think it will be an early night!

Rain or Shine, The Bike Rodeo must go on!!!!!

Today was an exciting day for Colton.  Today he would get to ride in the Bike Rodeo at School.  This is the first year ever that he has participated because this is the first year he could ride his bike without training wheels.  He has been waiting for this day all year.  This Morning when it started to rain, I was a little discouraged because I thought they might cancel it.  NOPE!!!  The Kids rode their bike in the rain.  It wasn't  HARD rain and it wasn't the whole time, so it was o.k.  Actually it was a little refreshing.  Lord knows we need the rain around here.

I'll start with the Spectators!

All of the 2nd Grade classes came out to cheer their classmates on.  Here's Bailey ready to cheer her Brother on!

The Christmas Tree is up and the Stockings are Hung!

I know it's not even Turkey Day, but at this house, we start Christmas Decorating early.  My main reason for this is because My Parents and Greg's Parents come to our House for Thanksgiving and then usually don't come back until after the New Year, therefore they don't get to see our Christmas decorations.  This is why we decorate early.  On November 24th, the House will look like Christmas, but smell like Thanksgiving!!!!!

This Year I decided I wanted my Christmas Tree to be a little more dramatic than usual.  Usually it's colored lights and ornaments from the past 20 or more years.   My friend Vanessa is Super talented and she's been showing me how to get crafty with Mesh ribbon so I knew I had to incorporate it into my tree.  I picked a candy/cookie theme and then topped it off with a big snowman head.  You should have seen Vanessa's face when she saw my idea for the topper.  I don't think she was exactly thrilled with the Giant Snowman head idea, but I think it all came together nicely.  I have WAY TOO MUCH Christmas stuff and I'm not sure if it's a good idea to bring it all out this year.  Kinley is not the most obedient Child on the planet, so I don't think the Word "No" is going to keep her out of my all of my Christmas decorations.   She's already trying to pull all of my ornaments off the tree, so I guess I'm going to have to tie them on there.  I won't be surprised if this tree at some point throughout the Holidays ends up on top of this child.  She is like Bam Bam from the Flintstones.  She's freakishly strong for a one year old and she has no fear, and I don't think she even feels pain.  As long as I make it through this Christmas without too many things broken and too many presents being unwrapped before they are suppose to be, I will Happy!  I wish the pictures that I took of my tree did it justice, but they don't.  I love the way the tree looks at night.  It gives me such a nostalgic feeling.  Now if it could just get Cold, I could really get into the Spirit.

Here's my Tree.......

Here's my Wreath!   (Made by my friend Vanessa)

I bought the center piece for my wreath at Hobby Lobby for $10.00. The red & white ornaments and the Letter to Santa ornament came from my box of old Christmas ornaments and the red bells have hung on my door at Christmas time for years.

and here are our Stockings.....

Now, on to the rest of the House!

Number 4 on my List.......DONE!!!!!!

Well, I feel like I've had a somewhat Productive day.  I woke up this Morning with the intention of getting at least one thing on my list done and Guess What,  I actually followed through!  If you missed my list you can see it here. I've gotta make a List!   #4....Clean my Son' room.  All I can say is My Son is lucky he is at School!!!!  After Cleaning his room, I've come to the realization that he is not the only guilty party.  Kinley and Bailey apparently also use his room as a dumping ground too.   I found my Potpourri ball that I've been looking for and my Sunglasses.  (I'm sure these were drug in there by my mischievous one year old.  I also found some of Bailey's clothes and toys.  O.k. before I show you these pictures, I ask that you please do not judge me.  I know I let this go too far and believe me, I feel like I was punished!  This whole out of sight, out of mind thing just doesn't work for me because once I set my sights on it, My mind goes Crazy.  Like I said, my Son is lucky he is at School!!!!!

Picture One:  This is the view of Colton's room from the doorway.
I would like to tell you that a Tornado actually came through this room, but we all know that is not true.

This is his desk or as he would like to call it, the catch all for things that no longer fit on the floor.

It even spills over into the closet.

Kinley doesn't mind the mess.  It's just more things for her to get into.

These are the half empty water bottles that I found under the bed.  I blame Bailey for this one.  She sleeps in Colton's room with him and she is the one that carries a bottle of Water to bed with her every night.

Here's Kinley on top of the toy box digging through the bag of trash that I easily filled from Colton's room.   I probably threw some things away that I shouldn't but I don't feel guilty.  This is just ridiculous.

This is Colton's dresser (I guess you can call it that)  Apparently, he's not clear on what this is for considering most of his clothes are on the floor.

After 1 bag of trash and 2 bags for Goodwill, my work here is done!
Mission Accomplished.  CLEAN ROOM!!!!!  YAY!!!!!!
Even Kinley's Happy!!!!

Here's the desk that he can actually work at now.

I guess I forgot to take pictures of the dresser and closet but they are nice and neat as well.  I am so glad to have this over with.  I'm thinking of not letting anybody back in here until after the Holidays!
Please feel free to tell me what a Terrible Mother I am for letting this room get so bad.  I've developed a thick skin over the Years!  I can take it!!!!!
