Perfect Day for the River

One of my favorite things about living in San Antonio is being so close to the Guadalupe River.  Twenty Minutes and we're at the Guadalupe River State Park!  The kids LOVE it and so do Greg and I.  Last year Kinley was only about 8 months old come River time, so we didn't frequent it as much, but I have a feeling it will be a different story this year.  Once we got down to the River, Kinley was Super Excited and wanted to run right in.  It's funny how it takes me 5 minutes to ease myself into the Water due to the fact that it's FREEZING cold, but Kids can jump right in and it never phases them. 
Well anyway,  here's our River Trip in Pictures.

Lets Play Ball!!!

To me, this is the Perfect time of year.  The Kids are playing Ball and the weather is just hot enough that we can jump in the River when the mood strikes us. 

I'll start with the Ball.  I love being out at the Ball field watching my Kids play.  It's just fun for me. 
I like the environment, I like that the Kids are having a good time and I like the fact that I'm OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!!  Lord knows, I spend enough time in this house during the week, so on the weekends I like to be out of it as much as possible. 

Let me talk a little about Bailey for a minute.  My Bailey girl WANTS to be athletic....she really does, but this Child is going to have to try REALLY hard before she gets it.  It just doesn't come naturally to her, but at least she loves to play and she WANTS to learn.  When it's her turn to bat, she gets up there and puts a big Smile on her face and Swings like there is no tomorrow.  Usually the swing is made after the Catcher already has the Ball in their hand, but at least she swings hard and she really does want it.  One day it will happen.  One day, that bat is going to make contact with that ball and my Baby girl is going to get to run to first base and I will be one proud Momma. (Even if she does trip and hit the ground on the way there)   I'm just going to have to accept the fact that coordination is not her thing and move on.  It's not the end of the World.

    
Aren't their uniforms adorable.  I love them!!!!  We have played three games so far and have won every one of them.  I think they play better because they look so cute!!!!  What woman isn't more confident when she looks good????

I think I will put that bat on my Prayer List.  I will pray that the Bat will somehow come alive and swing itself so hard that the ball flies so far into the outfield that Bailey will have time to run every base..........oh and of course I'll pray that the Bases are loaded and that way Bailey will be responsible for bringing 3 other girls into Home plate as well. Wow, wouldn't that be something!!!!   I joke, I joke.....of course I won't be putting something this Silly on my prayer list, but a girl can dream can't she!!!!

Anyway,  on to Colton.....Colton has always been a little weird and shy around other kids, but I am happy to say, that phase is gone!  For good, I hope.  This is the first year that I think Colton is REALLY enjoying playing Sports.  This is his first year playing Baseball and not T-Ball and he is now playing with All boys so that might have something to do with it.  I can just tell that he is really enjoying himself.  It sure beats his first year in T-ball where he would cry the entire game and his Daddy would have to pick him up by the back of his pants and make him run the bases.  He might have been throwing him from base to base out of frustration, but let's just keep it nice and say that he was helping him along.  Those days were MISERABLE and I am glad they are over.  I look forward to All of the games now.

I love this picture of him.  He was sliding into home and then just sat up so he could see what else was going on.  Meanwhile, His Daddy and I are yelling.  Get off the Base!!! You're done!!!!!!!  He said he thought he heard someone saying that he needed to go back to third and that's why he hung out at  Home plate a little longer than he should have.  O.k. Son, but next time just run through the plate and head to the dug out.  We'll let you know if something different needs to be done.

Of course, I can't leave Kinley out.  Here she is in a shirt that she found in her Ninny's (Greg's Mom) I buy random clothes at Resale shops drawer.  She's such a tomboy that it fits her personality just right.  This kid is rough and tough.  I can't wait to see what kind of Athlete she might be. 

In the meantime, Pray for me!!!! She is a Handful with a Capital H!!!!  

Well, it was a Great Day!!!!  After the games were over we headed to Willie's so Greg could eat some craw fish and I could relax and let the Willie's Sand box babysit for a little while.  On the way home, Greg must have been in a really good mood because he suggested we stop for Yogurt.  Stopping anywhere is usually not Greg's thing so I love when he gets in these let's do something unplanned and spur of the moment moods.  I'm looking forward to the rest of the Season.  I'm sure there will be more blogs to come on this subject.  Until next time........

Lets go to Luckenbach Texas!

This Friday, we decided to make a spur of the Moment trip to the Deer Lease.  We loaded up and headed that way only to find out that when we got there we had no water.  I know a lot of Deer Camps don't have Water, but I'm not a fan, so we spent the night, played a little the next day and headed home.

Here's my little Kinley.  This little girl is such a Tomboy.  She loves to wear hats. 

She chose this look herself.  I have a feeling she will be making trips to the Deer Lease with all the guys when she's older.





We got up Saturday Morning and rode around the property for a little while.

Colton of course had to bring his BB Gun just in case he had to shoot something.

When we left the Deer Lease, we decided to take a different route home. 

For once, we were not in a big hurry so we decided to stop by Luckenbach, TX

We had driven through before, but never stopped and checked things out. 
Here the family is standing in front of the Post office which is also a Gift Shop.

As soon as we walked in the door to the gift shop, the clerk said, "Well I see there's some new Sheriff's in town.  She put badges on all three of the Kids  and then had Colton and Bailey raise their right hand and repeat after her in order to get the Candy that she waived in front of them.

 When you walk to the back of the gift shop, there is a Bar.

If this isn't a TEXAS Bar, I don't know what is.

One of the strangest things about this trip is that Colton and Bailey got along.

They actually acted like Friends.  They even chose to sit next to each in the truck.

They laughed until their Stomachs hurt.

 These are my favorite kind of days.  No plans, just playin' it by ear.  It doesn't happen very often.

Daddy Daughter Dance

I knew when Bailey came home with the information for the Daddy Daughter dance that there would be a slim chance that they would go.  I knew this wouldn't be something that Greg would really be interested in.  Sure enough, when Greg got home and I was telling him about it, he didn't seem excited AT ALL.  I could tell his mind was already trying to figure out a good way of getting out it.  The next  day, he had a plan.  He told Bailey if she would forget about the dance, that he would get them Rodeo Tickets.  She wasn't completely convinced that this was a better deal, but she decided to go along with it.  I kept the info. on the fridge just in case because in this family plans change every minute.  Friday, the day of the dance, the kids went off to School excited about the fact that they were going to the Rodeo that night. When the kids got home, PLANS CHANGED.  Bailey walked in and started boo hooing about how the whole 2nd Grade was going to be at the Dance.  She said, ALL HER FRIENDS would be there.  Seriously, this is too much Drama for a 7 year old.  Once the Tears started to fall, Daddy had a change of Heart.  He said o.k....We'll go to the Dance.  This is typical in this family.  I should have known something like this was going to happen.  We didn't have a whole lot of time to prepare.  Bailey and I jumped in the car and headed to town.  Within one hour, we found a dress at Bealls, went to Sally's Beauty Supply and bought a curly pony tail holder (You know the ones with the hair that looks like your own hair) went to Payless and bought some shoes and then to Target for a Cute flower to put in her hair.   I think that is the fastest I've ever pulled an outfit together in my life. We got home and had the perfect amount of time to get dressed, get hair done and be out the door. 

This was not staged.  I just happen to to be clicking away when Bailey reached up to kiss her Daddy.  It makes my Heart Happy that my kids have a Dad that loves them so much. 

  I'm glad this all worked out and Greg said they had a good time.  Now on to trying to create Costumes for their School play next week.  I really wish Home Economics would have been a required course in High School.  Everyone should know how to sew.  I do not, so I will be relying on my friend Vanessa to pull some costumes together out of the fabric I give her.  It's one thing after another with these kids, but I love every minute of it. 

My Karate Kids

Well, the kids got their Uniforms on Thursday so now they are REALLY excited about Karate.  Colton did a complete turn around once he put that uniform on.  It was like it gave him magic powers.  He went from not wanting to do Karate to excited to learn some new moves.  

I love that they want to sit together on the line before class.

Colton especially, he follows Bailey around just like when they were Babies.

As long as he has her there, he's o.k.  (He would never admit that)
